If you are the type of person that likes to help people and have a desire to enter into the medical industry you may want to think about checking out MRI technologist jobs. This job will have you playing a big part in performing MRIs and taking care of your patients. You will spend your day in direct contact with your patients and operating high technology equipment. So you will need a combination of people skills and up to date training on the machines you will be working with.
   
As a MRI technician you will be responsible for your patients safety. Some folks have a hard time with getting into a MRI machine and you will have to deal with their anxiety and emotions as well as their physical comfort. So as you can see there is much more to this job than simply running the machine. Depending on where you are employed you could also be responsible for things such as other clerical duties and other paperwork.
   
You will need to be in pretty good physical shape for this job because you will be standing for extended periods, and you may need to assist any patients that are unable to help themselves. You may need to help turn them over or help them on and off the table.  Most of the time you can expect to work a 40-hour shift but some employers will offer you the chance to work either part time or give you the opportunity to work different shifts. You will need to fulfill the educational and certification requirements that are required for this job. Because you will be dealing with radioactive materials you will need to meet all of the requirements regulated by both your state and the federal government.
   
Even though you will learn to see different problems in the findings, it is important that you leave it up to the patients doctor to talk about the results and what it means to the patient. You will learn to spot different things as you become more experienced at MRI technologist jobs. Even though you are not a doctor you may find yourself being able to read the results of the MRI pretty accurately.
